KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 25): Based on corporate announcements and news flow on Tuesday (Jan 25), companies that may be in focus on Wednesday (Jan 26) include Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd, Pintaras Jaya Bhd, Senheng New Retail Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd and Aimflex Bhd.

Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd said its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Peninsula Hibiscus Sdn Bhd had successfully completed the acquisition of the entire equity interest in Fortuna International Petroleum Corp (FIPC) from Repsol. Hibiscus Petroleum noted in a statement that out of the purchase price of US$212.50 million (about RM890.06 million), the net amount paid at completion was US$123.65 million after taking into account various adjustments, including the deposit paid of US$15 million. It said the completion came shortly after all conditions were fulfilled as announced on Jan 20, 2022.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it will issue RM500 million worth of bonds on Wednesday (Jan 26), according to updates on the Bond and Sukuk Information Exchange's (BIX) website. According to the BIX, the bonds which mature on Jan 26, 2023 have a tenure of one year.

Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd (PetronM) has appointed former Lembaga Tabung Haji chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff as an independent director of the company, effective Feb 1, 2022.

Pintaras Jaya Bhd has secured a contract for earthworks, piling, substructure and ancillary works in Kuala Lumpur worth RM34.3 million, its Bursa Malaysia filing showed on Tuesday (Jan 25). The group said the 18-month project will start on Feb 14. It did not disclose who awarded the project to the company.

Consumer electrical and electronics retailer Senheng New Retail Bhd faltered on its maiden trading day on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market on Tuesday (Jan 25).

It opened at 90 sen and rose to as high as RM1.01 before closing at 85.5 sen, representing a 21.5 sen or 20.09% discount from its initial public offering (IPO) price of RM1.07.

At 85.5 sen, the retail group had a market capitalisation of RM1.28 billion. Senheng was also the day's second most actively traded stock on the local bourse, with 163.55 million shares changing hands. The trading volume was equivalent to 10.9% of its issued share capital of 1.5 billion.

Axiata Group Bhd has appointed the Employees Provident Fund’s Chief Strategy Officer Nurhisham Hussein as a non-independent and non-executive director, effective Tuesday (Jan 25).

ACE Market-listed Aimflex Bhd has redesignated Datuk Awang Daud Awang Putera from executive chairman to non-executive chairman with effect from Tuesday (Jan 25). He joined the board on Aug 19, 2020 as the group's non-independent non-executive chairman, before being redesignated as executive chairman on Feb 16, 2021.
