QES unit to take over Nikon’s industrial metrology business in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 9): Inspection, test and measurement equipment, material and engineering solution distributor QES Group Bhd has been appointed to take over Nikon Corp’s industrial metrology business in Malaysia.
In a statement today, QES said its unit QES (Asia-Pacific) Sdn Bhd will take over the business, effective from Jan 1, 2021.
It said the appointment was announced by Nikon following a decision to cease operations of Nikon (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Nikon Malaysia) by year end.
QES is currently the authorised distributor for Nikon Malaysia’s industrial metrology business.
QES managing director/president Chew Ne Weng said Nikon Malaysia and QES had been key partners since 2009.
He said the appointment will see QES further strengthen sales and aftersales service support.
“Nikon’s products have [been] consistently maintained as one of the top three suppliers (sic) of QES,” he said.
At 10.23am, QES shares were unchanged at 28.5 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM237.73 million.
