American Segmental Bridge Institute (ASBI) 28th Annual Convention has graciously invited Adj. A/Prof. Ir. Dr. Voo Yen Lei to be one of its key-note speaker at the convention. This annual event by ASBI took place at the Long Beach Convention Center, California, United States on 8-9 November 2016. This year’s program is to showcase current segmental design and construction innovations which focuses on projects in the North America and abroad. The technology of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is viewed as the current trending and future material by the consultants, pre-caster, designers and contractors, therefore the works of Dura® in Malaysia has greatly invite many attention to the applications of this material.
Dr. Voo presented on the applications of DURA® that were built in Malaysia and continues to contribute to the knowledge of UHPC worldwide. His title of speech is “UHPC for Segmental Bridges in Malaysia – Why Not Bring the Technology to the US?”. The convention sees an attendance of 190 participants ranging from project owners, designers, constructors and suppliers related to segmental bridges. Many were impressed by the extend of what DURA® is able to achieve in Malaysia. Some associate parties are looking for further collaboration in the Northern America market.

Adj. A/Prof. Ir Dr Voo Yen Lei was appointed a Director of Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. [“DTSB”] on 1 January 2007. He was re-designated to Chief Executive Officer and Director of DTSB on 1 April 2010. He was offered a place in the University of New South Wales [“UNSW”] Sydney, Australia where he gained his Bachelor in Engineering (Civil) with First Class Honors in 2000. Upon graduating, he was being immediately offered a full scholarship by the same university for his noteworthy achievements to complete his PhD. in Civil Engineering. He then stayed on in UNSW for another three years to complete his PhD.
He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with UNSW. Being an avid believer in academic, he believes a good and strong foundation in education will bring the people and a nation to a greater level of achievements. With two National Records in hand, he is aiming for more marvels to be erected in the ground of Malaysia. In year 2015, he also granted two major awards namely the "21st Century The Prestigious Company Award" and "21st Century The Entrepreneur Award"
