Just wonder how many of you know full
benefits of SOCSO? For me, I would say this is the best and most comprehensive insurance
policy offered by government. It is even better than the private insurance. Let
me summarize the important points of SOCSO here. **There are lots of money can be claimed**
Basically, there are 2 categories of SOCSO
insured person as follow:
First Category (Employment Injury and Invalidity Schemes)
For those below 60 years old, the rates of contribution under this category comprise of 1.75% employer’s share and 0.5% employee’s monthly wages. CLICK HERE for rate of contributions.
Second Category (Employment Injury Scheme)
For those above 55 years old when he first register and contribute to SOCSO but below 60 years old, the rate of contribution under this category is only 1.25% of the employee’s monthly wages solely borne by employer.

9 Benefits of Employment Injury Scheme:
1) MEDICAL BENEFIT [Free
medical treatment at all SOCSO's panel]
Employees suffering from employment
injuries or occupational diseases may receive free
medical treatment at SOCSO’s panel clinic or Government clinic / hospital.
Treatment must be continued until they are fully recovered.

2) TEMPORARY DISABLEMENT BENEFIT [The daily rate is minimum of RM30.00 per day to maximum of RM105.33 per day]
Temporary Disablement Benefit is paid for
the period the employee is on medical leave certified by a doctor for not less
than four (4) days including the day of accident. However, Temporary
Disablement Benefit will NOT be paid for the days for which the employee works
and earns wages during this period.

3) PERMANENT DISABLEMENT BENEFIT [Permanent disability assessment payment claim and daily rate is minimum of RM30.00 per day to maximum of RM118.50 per day]
Permanent Disablement is defined as a
permanent disability due employment injury that reduces employees’ ability to
perform his duties. The employee can claim this benefit after the last day of
temporary disablement.

4) CONSTANCE-ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE [Allowance is fixed at RM500 per month]
This allowance is paid to an employee who
is suffering from total permanent disablement and is so severely incapacitated
as to constantly require the personal attendance of another person.
5) FACILITIES FOR PHYSICAL OR VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION [Free physical
and vocational rehabilitation provided]
Rehabilitation facilities may be provided free of charge by the Organization to an employee
who suffers permanent disablement.

6) RETURN TO WORK PROGRAMME
SOCSO’s Return to Work (RTW) program was
introduced on the 15th of January 2007 for Insured Person suffering from
employment injury or claiming to be invalid. The Return to Work program
involves a proactive approach taken in helping Insured Person with injuries or
diseases, opportunities to safe and productive work activities as soon as it is
medically possible or when maximum medical improvement is achieved with a
primary focus of minimizing the impact of injuries or disabilities.

7) DEPENDANTS' BENEFIT [Daily rate is minimum of RM30.00 per day to maximum
of RM118.50 per day]

8) FUNERAL BENEFIT [Amount paid will be
the actual amount incurred or RM1500 whichever is lower]
Funeral Benefit will be paid to the
eligible person as prescribed in the Act, if the employee dies due to any
cause. In the absence of such person, the benefit will be paid to the person
who actually incurs the expenditure.

Education Benefit is a SOCSO benefit that
can come in the form of education benefits or scholarships to dependent
beneficiaries based on PERKESO’s Benefits Schedule and meet the SOCSO's
requirement.

8 Benefits of Invalidity Scheme:
1) INVALIDITY PENSION [Pension amounting to 1/3 of the average salary or min. RM475 per
month]
Insured person will receive a pension amounting to 1/3 of the average salary
that the employee is receiving before the disability invalidity
Invalidity is defined as permanent morbid conditions that are unlikely to
be cured which ultimately cause a loss of income for the employee.
Coverage includes invalidity caused by any circumstances not relating to
work. This includes invalidity due to chronic diseases such as heart attacks,
kidney failure, cancer, mental illness, asthma and so forth.

2) INVALIDITY GRANT [For those paid less than 12 monthly contributions]
Invalidity Grant is payable to the eligible insured persons who have been
certified invalid by the Medical Board but not eligible for invalidity pension
due to failure to complete any qualifying conditions.

3) CONSTANCE-ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE [Fixed at
RM500 per month]
This allowance is paid to an employee who is suffering from invalidity and
is so severely incapacitated as to constantly require the personal attendance
of another person, certified by Medical Board.

4) SURVIVORS' PENSION [The rate of Survivors’ Pension for full qualifying period
is from 50% to 65% of the average of assumed monthly wage subject to a minimum
pension of RM475 per month]
Survivors’ Pension is payable to the eligible dependents of an insured
person who dies irrespective of the cause of death not related to employment.

5) FUNERAL BENEFIT [The amount paid will be the actual amount incurred or max
RM1500]

Act, if the employee dies due to any cause. In the absence of such person, the

technical rehabilitation for all employees that have permanent disabilities,

level education, borrowers may apply to convert their loans into scholarships
if the final academic results fulfill the conditions set by SOCSO) to dependent beneficiaries
based on PERKESO’s Benefits Schedule and meet the SOCSO'Ss requirement.
