PETERLABS (Fundamental: 1.7/3, Valuation: 1.8/3) saw higher than normal volume and price movements in March. Prices reached a new all-time high of 32 sen on Monday before dipping 2 sen or 6.3% to 30 sen yesterday.
On Monday, the ACE market-listed company proposed a 10% private placement to raise funds for working capital purposes. The price will be fixed after obtaining all relevant approvals. The proposal is target for completion by mid-2015.
Peterlabs, which is principally involved in trading and distribution of animal health and nutrition products, saw its 2014 net profit surge 49.7% to RM3.0 million on the back of 9.2% sales growth.
The stock trades at a trailing 12-month P/E of 19.74 times and 1.83 times book value. Dividend totalled 0.5 sen in 2014, giving a yield of 1.56%. By comparison, peer SCC Holdings (Fundamental: 1.95/3, Valuation: 2.1/3) earns higher margins and pays better dividends – 10 sen in 2014, translating into a yield of 5.2%.
