Serba Dinamik, Sapura Energy, Bermaz Auto, Evergreen Fibreboard, Petronas Dagangan, Pertama Digital and Ramssol
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Based on corporate announcements and news flow on Monday (Dec 13), companies in focus on Tuesday (Dec 14) may include: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto), Evergreen Fibreboard Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB), Pertama Digital Bhd and Ramssol Group Bhd.
Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd said it has yet to receive any notice of default in response to its outstanding US$222 million sukuk. The engineering solutions provider was responding to a query from Bursa Securities about a news report by The Edge on Friday (Dec 10), which quoted the Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd (MARC) as saying that Serba Dinamik's subsidiary had defaulted on the the latter's US$7 million (RM29.53 million) semi-annual coupon payment on the outstanding senior Islamic bond.
Sapura Energy Bhd narrowed its net loss by 56% to RM669.34 million for the third quarter ended Oct 31, 2021 (3QFY22), from RM1.52 billion in the previous quarter of 2QFY22, as 2QFY22 saw higher project costs recognised for certain projects and a provision for foreseeable losses. Its revenue jumped about 94% to RM1.46 billion, from RM747.1 million quarter-on-quarter, on higher completion of its projects recognised in the reporting quarter. But compared with its year-ago corresponding quarter of 3QFY21, the group, which has been loss-making since 4QFY21, sank into a net loss compared to a net profit of RM17.21 million previously, despite an almost 10% revenue improvement from RM1.33 billion, as three of four of its business segments reported losses, while its only profitable segment saw earnings halved.
Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto)’s net profit soared 154% to RM26.04 million for the second quarter ended Oct 31, 2021 (2QFY22), from RM10.27 million in the immediate preceding quarter, on higher revenue helped by improved domestic sales volume. Quarterly revenue grew 50.83% to RM483.84 million from RM320.79 million in 1QFY22, with the relaxation of containment measures brought on by the National Recovery Plan. On a year-on-year basis, BAuto’s net profit was up 5.04% from RM24.79 million in 2QFY21, despite revenue declining 19.34% from RM599.84 million due to reduction in sales volume. BAuto declared a second interim dividend of 1.5 sen per share, to be paid on Feb 4.
Evergreen Fibreboard Bhd said a fire broke out at its wholly-owned subsidiary's wood fibre storage bin in Segamat, Johor on Saturday (Dec 11) morning, which killed two people. The group said the cause of the 7am incident that occured at Evergreen Fibreboard (JB) Sdn Bhd’s (EJB) premises is still being investigated by the Fire and Rescue Department’s forensic unit.
Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) has signed a heads of agreement with Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS) to mark the strategic partnership between the two parties in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) business in Sarawak. The partnership includes the divestment of PDB’s LPG business in Sarawak to PetrosNiaga Sdn Bhd (PNiaga), a fully-owned subsidiary of PETROS, and a subscription of shares in PNiaga by PDB.
Pertama Digital Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding with CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd to develop and bring to market, digital financial services that empower investors in post-pandemic Malaysia. Pertama Digital and CGS-CIMB will combine their respective strengths to create dependable products with a hyper focus on the needs of retail customers, in support of the Capital Market Masterplan 3, launched by the Securities Commission on Sept 21.
Ramssol Group Bhd has partnered with training and advisory services company Elmu V Sdn Bhd to expand its IT-related training business. The group said its unit Rams Solutions Sdn Bhd has inked a marketing and collaboration agreement with Elmu V to promote cooperation in the conduct of legal framework, corporate liability, corruption risk management and organisational anti-corruption plan course.
