PETALING JAYA: The government, via the Human Resources Ministry, has denied that it is engaging MyEG Services Bhd to carry out Covid-19 screenings for employers for the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP).
This is the second time the government is denying any engagement with MyEG in matters relating to Covid-19. The first instance was in March when the government, through the Health Ministry’s Medical Device Authority (MDA), said that it had never given permission to MyEG to advertise, distribute or sell Covid-19 test kits.
MDA had said then that the advertisements by MyEG could cause confusion by encouraging people to purchase the tests, with possible false test results.
In a statement, Socso said that the registration of the PSP may only be done through its web portal at https://prihatin.perkeso.gov.my. The terms and procedures for the PSP have also been made public on Socso’s web portal at www.perkeso.gov.my and through Socso’s official social media channels.
“These Covid-19 screening tests are conducted free of charge and no payment will be imposed on employers or employees which are registered with Socso, ” it said. Socso said that it was referring to MyEG’s statement that it was offering a one-stop portal for employers in Malaysia to organise their Covid-19 screening needs for their workforce. The statement had claimed that it was working with Socso’s panel clinics for screenings at the workplace carried out by health officials abiding by the Health Ministry’s guidelines.
MyEG later clarified on Bursa Malaysia that it had not entered into a collaboration with Socso and that Socso was not a direct partner in this private initiative.
