KUALA LUMPUR (April 28): MyEG Philippines Inc, a unit of MyEG Services Bhd, has rolled out a contact tracing and digital health profiling smartphone app known as MyEGuard in the cities of Paranaque, Metro Manila, Kidapawan, North Cotabato and Ilagan.

The system was jointly developed in Malaysia by MyEG Services and S5 Systems Sdn Bhd.

In a statement today, the group said the roll-out of MyEGuard will enable authorities in these cities to carry out much-needed contact tracing as part of efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, not only in the Philippines but also globally.

In addition to contact tracing, residents of the participating Philippine cities will be assigned a dynamic-coloured QR code, which serves as an indicator of their health status and infection risk level.

MyEG said the data behind the code is constantly updated in real time with readings from temperature checkpoints across various strategic locations with human traffic, as well as with contact tracing information.

“We are honoured to be able to assist these cities in their efforts to contain the contagion of Covid-19 and we will continually improve our system to make our app more efficient and effective overtime. We expect to onboard several more cities in the coming weeks once the pilot trials are successful,” said MyEG Philippines chief executive officer Ann Saldana.

MyEG shares closed up 1 sen or 0.86% at RM1.17, with 38.32 million shares traded. It has a market capitalisation of RM4.05 billion.
