KUALA LUMPUR: MyEG Services Bhd said a sub-subsidiary, MyEG Alternative Payment Services Sdn Bhd had received an approval from Bank Negara to issue electronic money.
The company said MyEG Alternative will issue electronic money via its iPayEasy e-wallet with a maximum wallet limit of RM1,500 per customer.
“The approval would enable MyEG Alternative to carry out activities in relation to the issuance of electronic money, which complements MyEG Services and its subsidiaries’ existing business activities,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
MyEG Alternative joined a growing list on more than 20 non-bank entities that have been given approval to issue e-money.
