SHARES in Notion VTec Bhd (fundamental: 1.85/3, valuation: 0.9/3) rose 5.06% to 41.5 sen after it saw some 5.79 million shares traded yesterday. The stock has been trading between 36 sen and 50 sen in the past 52 weeks.
On Wednesday, the group reported a net profit of RM3.15 million for the second quarter ended March 31, 2016 (2QFY16), compared to a net loss of RM4.54 million in the preceding year’s corresponding quarter, due to a write-back of provision for mark-to-market losses on US dollar foreign-exchange hedging contracts that amounted to about RM9.3 million.
However, Notion’s revenue dropped 11.5% to RM56.59 million in 2QFY16, from RM63.94 million in 2QFY15, mainly due to a drop in orders in its hard disk drive and camera segments.
Currently, Notion is trading at a trailing price-earnings ratio of 42.86 times and has a market capitalisation of RM112.67 million.
