China Automobile Parts Hld Ltd (-ve)
CHINA Automobile (CAP) (Fundamental: 1.95/3, Valuation: 1.8/3) is seeing renewed interest after the stock fell to an all-time low of 21 sen in mid-January, from an IPO price of 68 sen in Feb 2013. The stock rose to 30 sen yesterday from 26 sen the day before. Trading volume surged from 3 million to 39 million shares.
The China-based company mainly manufactures automobile chassis parts catering to aftermarket repair, maintenance and modification, particularly for heavy vehicles.
For 2014, revenue fell 7.5% to CNY728.3 million (RM435.3 million) due to lower average selling price and sales volume. Net profit dropped a smaller 6.3% to CNY136.6 million (RM81.6 million), thanks to the absence of one-off listing expenses in 2013.
Currently, the stock is trading at just 0.34 times book with a trailing P/E of 1.92 times. However, China-based companies listed here are generally trading at seemingly low valuations as they have fallen out of favour with investors.
